Prof. Linda Shimizu at Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at USC, annually organizes the K12 Chemistry Outreach Program. Graduate student volunteers demonstrate chemistry experiments to inspire school students in science education. Typical demonstrations include physical properties of matter, pH indicators, clock reaction, slime reaction, nylon polymer preparation, and fluorescence experiments. I have volunteered for the program every year since 2013. Schools I have visited so far are, Killian Elementary School, Dreher High School, Hand Middle School and Summit Parkway Middle School.
